The project consists of three parts as will be explained below.
The Project Idea
The initial project idea was to control the performance of music on the fly similar to a conductor who uses gesture to instruct an orchestra about how to play a piece of music. An idea to ambitious, as it turned out, since there was neither an electronic baton available nor a software capable of recognizing a conductor’s gesture. Consequently, the development of an application focused on a performance controlled by a simple gamepad.
The Espressivo Application
The developed Espressivo app is available at no cost from the App Store. It runs on both, macOS and iOS devices. Additionally, a successful performance requires a gamepad and a MIDI player.
You can get the Espressivo application for macOS or the iOS app from the link below.

The Espressivo Recordings
After the main development of the app, the author created numerous recordings using the Espressivo app. Most recordings were created on a virtual piano.
